Using the tools
EncodeLens is provided free of charge for general information and convenience. You may use the tools for personal and commercial work. You may not use the site in a way that breaks the law, disrupts the service, or tries to gain unauthorised access to it.
No warranty
The tools and the explanations are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose or accuracy. We test our tools against published specifications and describe their limits, but mistakes can happen, and standards, browsers and third-party software change over time.
About encoding, hashing and token results
EncodeLens converts and inspects data; it is not a security product. Base64, percent-encoding and YAML or JSON conversion are not encryption and hide nothing. The JWT decoder only reads a token: decoding is not verification, and a token that decodes cleanly can still be forged or expired. Its optional HMAC check covers the HS256, HS384 and HS512 algorithms only, and a "signature matches" result says nothing about whether the claims should be trusted by your application. The hash and HMAC tools follow the published algorithms, but MD5 and SHA-1 are shown for compatibility and checksums and are not suitable for protecting anything against an attacker. Where a page marks behaviour as observed or unclear, other software may behave differently.
Check results before relying on them
Always verify important results (for example before deploying a configuration, trusting a token, publishing a checksum or making a decision that has financial, legal or safety consequences). The tools are not professional advice. Do not enter production secrets into any web page you cannot audit.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its results. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Third-party content and links
The site links to third-party websites, for example the specifications it cites. It currently shows no advertising; if that changes, the Privacy Policy will say so first. We do not control and are not responsible for their
content or practices. The JSON and YAML converter includes the open-source yaml package (ISC licence) by Eemeli Aro. See the Privacy Policy.
Intellectual property
The site's text, design and code are owned by EncodeLens, an independent project operated from Indonesia unless stated otherwise. You own what you enter into the tools and the results they produce for you.
